Last Call – Only 30 days until the due date!!!

The Chinese Fine Arts Society invites you to write a composition based on your impressions of the monumental and historically significant GREAT WALL!  Please click here for competition details.

The world premiere concert where the five finalists’ compositions will be performed and the winners selected will be on March 26^th, 2006 at Buntrock Hall in Chicago’s Symphony Center.

Breaking news:  CFAS has received an invitation to perform the winning pieces in Beijing, China, where a significant portion of the Great Wall still stands.   If the winning compositions are of sufficiently high quality, we will accept this invitation, and seek funding to invite the winning composers to join the trip at a discounted rate!   So, please write a masterpiece – it is said that Handel wrote the Messiah in 24 days so it there is still time!!  We are eagerly anticipating great works from our contestants!!

The Chinese Fine Arts Society (CFAS) was founded in 1984 as a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the education and promotion of the Chinese cultural arts.  In Chicago’s culturally diversified society, CFAS provides programs and activities that promote the understanding of Chinese culture through music and other fine arts.  By presenting traditional Chinese music compositions by Chinese composers and performances of Chinese music on western instruments, CFAS hopes to reach a broad audience and heighten their awareness of the richness of Chinese culture.
